Good Morning Vietnam
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 just recently came out with a new expansion for the game. Battlefield Vietnam is a fast paced team shooter where tactics and strategy are important. The game developers DICE did a good job of bringing in the sense of chaos as you're running to cover and you see tracer rounds zipping past your helmet. The game has flamethrowers and helicopters and all the destructible cover just like in Bad Company 2. Do remember you need Bad Company 2 in order to play it.
The basic game play is identical to Bad Company 2 with the rush and conquest modes both being present. The major change would be the whole new arsenal of weapons used by both sides from the Vietnam war. The vehicles have all been replaced by there predecessors and include new custom paint to help give the vehicles a little more personality. There are still the four main classes; Assault, Medic, Engineer, and Recon. These have all been redesigned to fit in to the era a little bit better. All the classes have been granted new weapons and gadgets. Though most of the gadgets are just renamed and still serve the same purpose such as instead of C4 its TNT. Now with this being a multi-player only expansion there is no campaign to speak of, instead there is just some dialog you hear in between the maps loading and with the victory or defeat post game.
The dialog is very simple and only talks over this radio as to be a news reporter for the war. With every loss for the United States you would hear something such as how our troops have pulled back and the stronghold remains with the communists. It is a very good way to give a sense of accomplishment with every victory or a motivator with the defeats.
This being a first person shooter it would appeal to almost anyone who likes other FPS games such as the Call of Duty series. I would see anyone who has fun enjoying those games would have a blast playing this game though it does require more teamwork. This game on the other hand would not be for someone who likes to run and gun and pull of incredible stunts. In this game teamwork is key, without it then you will quickly learn how hard it can be for your team to pull out a win. While on the other hand if you are willing to learn how to play as a team and mark the enemies it will be a very enjoyable experience.
So to conclude I just want to leave this final thought. If you enjoy working with a team to pull of overwhelming victories then this would provide you with hours of enjoyment. It is priced out at $14.99 or 1200 Microsoft points (exclusive to Xbox). This can be purchased for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and the PC. This is more then most map packs but all the new content included makes it a very good buy for a fan of the first game or anyone looking for a new shooter.
